Tipping Point Film Fund is as strong as the numbers of people who support what we do – and by extension, the film-makers and campaigns we want to support. The response to the idea of TPFF – the model and the ethos – is always positive and encouraging and our first 18 months of operation have been really productive. We have seen the first Tipping Point Film Fund supported film – Leila Sansour’s The Road to Bethlehem – completed; a number of exciting new films in development; the TPFF film club in London now established and a growing number of TPFF supporters – donors, members and followers.
More and more people are asking us ‘how can we help?’ or ‘how can we get more involved?’ – so below is how! Fundamentally, we need supporters to back the fund and spread the word. The more the fund grows, the more projects we can support.
If you haven’t seen our promo, then this explains why:-
HOW TO GET MORE INVOLVED!
Help fund great films through TPFF:
- Donate
- Host an event
- Spread the word
1. Join our 360 degrees donors network– individually or maybe create a ‘Friends of TPFF hub’ ? And get lots back!
TPFF wants to build a base of small scale one-off or committed givers whose donations go direct to the fund to support production and outreach. And together, it wouldn’t take much for us to create a major new non-profit rolling annual fund….if there are enough of us! (read here for more).
By yourself: Could you consider becoming a committed giver of £5 or more per month?
You get free attendance at up to 4 TPFF film screenings & discussions (currently London only – see below to help us grow the film club); TPFF news and event alerts; sneak previews of TPFF supported films; wider news updates on films to watch, curated ‘films to watch’ from well known figures; and news on current social action campaigns.
With others: Would you be interested in creating a ‘Friends of TPFF’ supporter hub?
You could start a TPFF Fundraising hub of regular givers – with friends, family, colleagues, faith group members and enjoy giving, watching (and even campaigning!) together. And we’ll make it easy for you! As individual regular givers you get all the benefits outlined above plus we’ll send you a monthly email with ideas for stuff to do together including:-
- films to watch (new releases, free online to watch, curated film lists – documentaries and fiction)
- highlights of interesting events/talks in your area (film and/or social issue related)
- a round-up of recommended campaign actions
- fundraising film night events for TPFF (see below)
2. Host One-Off Events
- Host a fundraising film night
You could host your own film screening – at home, college, church, community venue – charge your guests an entrance fee and make a donation – minus your expenses – to TPFF. We can suggest a variety of ways to do this and places to source film ideas and DVDs.
- Hold a fundraiser for The Road to Bethlehem outreach campaign
TPFF has helped raise approximately £90,000 from NGOs, trusts and individuals and was critical to the film’s completion. We are now fundraising for the outreach campaign that will accompany the film on and after its Christmas release. Find our more here.
3. Other Ways to Help….
- Become a TPFF film-club co-ordinator
The TPFF Film Club is currently based in London but we’d love to expand into other areas around the UK. We are exploring possible Film Club groups in Derby, Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh. Help us build on our UK wide contacts and deepen those links we have made across the country.
- Spreading the word…
We need people like you to help us spread the word, about TPFF, our events and the films we support upon their release. Join our Social Networking Hub and we’ll feed you information to distribute – via email and social networking sites – to your friends, colleagues and followers.
A last word …
We know times are hard. TPFF’s heart is in supporting films that tell stories which all – in some way or other – reflect on the times we live in….and that embrace issues like finance and the global economy; climate; conflict/war and human rights. Our support for these stories – and their associated campaigns – is only as strong as the support you can help us give. And we know it works – in the UK films like Black Gold, Age of Stupid, End of the Line, Burma VJ have ALL made impact.
We do hope you feel inspired to get involved and please email info@tippingpointfilmfund.com.

“Having been closely involved with a feature documentary that was very effective in its effort to raise awareness about Palestine, I know how important it is to back film-makers who have stories to share with us – often personal stories which can have both personal and political impact. Tipping Point is giving invaluable support to such projects.” - Jeremy Hardy – comedian
“The need for documentaries that ask hard political questions is greater than ever, as the main TV producers and channels abdicate their responsibility. So many stories to tell, so few make it to the screen. Good luck to Tipping Point Film Fund.” - Ken Loach – film director
